World of Warcraft Account Security Help/Tips

Account security is a very real problem with World of Warcraft these days, and I am glad to see that Blizzard recently published an advice guide to keeping yourself secure while playing WoW.  I also figured since many visitors to this blog are relatively new to the game, that I would post some advice on keeping yourself safe while playing, since many of the newer scams are much more complex than what some can imagine.  Some of these tips are discussed in Blizzard's article as well.

  1. First of all, a Blizzard "employee" will never ask you for your World of Warcraft account information while you are playing.  It doesn't matter what they promise you (large amounts of gold, new mounts, etc.) or threaten you (account suspension, banning, etc.) with, they are all fake.  Remember, if Blizzard really needed to ban/suspend your account, they have the power to do that, you don't need to give them information they already have.  If a player is talking to you about getting your account information, report them and then mute them.  Do not tell them you have reported them.  If you are still nervous about your account and getting suspended, simply contact Blizzard and ask if there are any flags up against your account and tell them how you were threatened by a particular player.
  2. Don't be tempted to buy gold from an online seller.  A common scam is to take your money, and then report your account.  If you are really looking to make a lot of money, rely on some of the guides I have posted on this blog for tips!
  3. Change your password monthly, and always make it something that is hard to guess.  Never make your password anything related to your World of Warcraft account's character.  Also, don't make it your pets name, this is becoming a new way to scam people (simply get into a discussion about your pets, many pet owners use their pets' names as passwords, very insecure).  Blizzard recommends your passwords contain one number, I recommend two, and put one of the numbers randomly in the middle of the password.  For example: hac4kthis9.
I hope these tips help you become a safer player and help you enjoy your time better while playing WoW; remember, safety first!

How To Level Up Paladins Quickly

This is a guide I came across just two or three days ago.  It's an average guide I guess, though it is definately more suited towards newer players of the game, if your an older player you will probably find most of the information is stuff you have already figured out by now.  The only thing I will note that it does particularly well is give descriptions on how your paladin can be used for the best at your group's advantage in a dungeon or raid.
